Training with Kat Mertz – University of Oregon ( Head Women’s Soccer Coach ) Coach Kat Mertz also is a coach with the US National Team Mertz brings a wealth of international coaching experience having worked with all age groups within the U.S. Women’s National Team.She served as an assistant coach with the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team at the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Germany. Two years before, Mertz helped lead the U-20 squad to the 2008 FIFA World Cup title played in Chile. She was an assistant coach for the U.S. Women’s National Team’s U-15 team in its inaugural season in 2004.Mertz also serves a scout for the Youth National Team programs.

They all live on the Big Island ! These girls are great teammates even though they live on different islands.

Our Surf U15 Girls team will have to play with out Taylor Kuroda who was called up to play in the 2013 ECNL National Playoffs ( During Regionals ) in Colorado. Taylor is one Hawaii’s Best Goal Scorers. Taylor will miss the 2nd half of the tournament.
Coming back for this tournament is Raisa Strom Okimoto. She will be playing and she was the 2011-12 OIA West Scoring Leader and was the 2011-12 OIA West Player of the Year ! Raisa accomplished all of this while she was just a Freshmen at Aiea High School. One of Hawaii’s Best young talents coming through the ranks.

- Kylee Kim Bustillos will be going to Virginia to play in the ECNL National Championships. Kylee has chance to become a ECNL National Champion.
- Taylor Kuroda will be going to Colorado for the ECNL National Playoffs. If her team advances Taylor will also be going to Virginia to play in the ECNL National Championships.

Congratulations to ( Ali Ma’afala ) and ( Kalia Kalua ) . Both girls were guest players for the Legends Classic Tournament. Awesome experience for the girls to be able to just fly up and play and also win a Cal South Tournament Championship. It is not easy but the girls have skills and they can play with any team in the Country. Surf Hawaii keeps on producing the Best Soccer Players in Hawaii and we have the track record to prove it.
Surf Hawaii Community Service Program.
Surf Hawaii and its teams will now be a big part in giving back and doing community Service to teach our players to be helpful children and young adults. We have added this to our club to build well rounded soccer players. There is more to life then just soccer. We will have a Surf Staff Member keeping track of all the hours put in by each child and they can use it for the own personal use and their player resumes.

April 13, 2013 – It was a wonderful day at Nanakuli High School, host to Special Olympics Leeward Track & Field Meet; and Surf SC Hawaii was blessed to be a part of it. The Surf Ohana was assigned to assist in the awards tent where we got to cheer on the athletes and award them their ribbons for their events. It was a joy to be able to share excitement, enthusiasm and pride in their accomplishments. A quality that Surf SC strives to instill and sets our players apart, is to have ‘HEART’, and there was no shortfall of ‘HEART’ with all the Special Olympics athletes. From the opening ceremony to the awards ceremony, Special Olympics truly exemplifies that “we can foster an environment of inclusion, acceptance, and respect,” and “squash the stereotypes placed upon people with intellectual disabilities.” Hats off to all the Special Olympics coaches, volunteers, athletes and their families!!! Surf U15′s and Capture their 7th State Championship
Against all odds and the girls still pull off another State Championship. We did not have Key players for the entire tournament and we were still able to capture another State Championship. That says a lot about the team and the foundation and the training.
